It’s simple: we want to learn what American organizations are doing to support employee caregivers.
SupportForCaregivers.net broadly examines how employers support employees who are caring for family members. We are mainly interested in people who care for adults, although we certainly acknowledge that parenting is a caregiving relationship. (Click here to read about parenting versus non-parenting caregiving.)
We are focused on the ways employers support their caregiving employees. We are building a directory of employers based on how they support caregiving employees. You can use this directory to learn what various companies offer their caregiving employees. This could include benefits, wellness support and community-building. This site will also define the various types of support and comment on their effectiveness. (Click here to read about types of family caregiver benefits.)
Simply put, we discovered that there is a clear need to support caregiver employees. Some corporations and other organizations have also discovered this and implemented plans to provide the support. Others have not. So, we are also focused on making a case for providing effective support for caregiving employees. (Click here to read about the case for employer-provided caregiver support.)
Our work also tells us that employed people are not the only caregivers who need support. Therefore, we also explore other ways caregivers can receive the support they need. (Click here to read about caregiver support as a client or member benefit.)
We gather information from publicly-available sources. We also seek information directly from HR departments, benefits specialists and diversity, equity and inclusion officers at corporations. (Click here to read about how we gather information.)
We consistently update this site, finding new information about caregiver support. We are reporting on the wave of change even as we seek to spread it. (Click here to read about how we indicate when data was gathered.)
This website and our work are funded by a grant from a caregiving support provider.
