Employee Assistance Programs

We decided to classify professional mental health support offered through Employee Assistance Programs as Learning rather than Sharing because the employee’s experience is usually not in a group.

EAP’s provide one-on-one learning and support that can be quite helpful to a caregiver. The one downside is that it may not effectively address feelings of loneliness.

Great Places to Work included prioritizing mental health as a top 8 workplace wellbeing trend in 2023.

  1. My experience with employee assistance programs is that they cover so much more than just stress relief for caregivers. And I guess that’s a good thing because caregiving is stressful, but it could really be a handful if the caregiver also suffers from other mental health struggles. Probably the only way to address that is with one-on-one professional help.
